Acid-resistant Linings

Acid-resistant linings are designed to protect the outer lining from heavy chemical loads, loads which are often combined with heavier thermal or mechanical loads. Usually the acid-resistant linings are used in continuous process subject to chemical loads 24 hours a day. Moreover, as a result of this continuous operation, inspections and any maintenance work of the linings can only be carried out during maintenance stops. Gouda Refractories Nordic installs the following types of lining:

  • Chamotte linings
  • Carbon and graphite linings

Chamotte linings offer excellent resistance to many acids, alkalis, solvents and oils and grease in both liquid and vapour phases.

Chamotte linings offer good protection to process equipment subjected to high temperatures in combination with a chemical load and fluctuating process temperatures.

Carbon and graphite linings are resistant to extremely high concentrations of acids other than strongly oxidizing acids such as chromic acid and nitric acid. These linings offer excellent resistance to solvents, alkaline solutions and solvent/alkali mixtures.

Gouda Refractories Nordic installs acid-resistant linings in process equipment including scrubber stages (in plants including waste incineration plants), sulphuric acid pits, quenches and sulphuric acid production plants.
